This article presents the results of a research project funded by Universidad de Antioquia’s Graduate School Department and the School of Economic Sciences’ Center for Research and Consultancy, conducted by the GESTOR Research Group (Organizational Management) on graduate alumni, in order to obtain specific information from these individuals, the participants of the University Research System, and the business environment where the University conducts research, in order to establish some dynamics and to identify key factors in the academia- research relationship.
The study approaches the University Research System as an institution and the University’s graduate academic programs. First, it establishes favorable factors and delimiters, as well as the dynamics between these subsystems, and then it studies the graduates and lists some personal and socio-demographic characteristics, as well as their interaction with research. Finally, the study presents some concrete proposals for Universidad de Antioquia, as a synthesis of the analysis and as a result of the interaction between quantitative and qualitative variables.
