El Género Spalax:
En Israel habitan cuatro razas cromosómicas del roedor fosorial Spalaz ehrenbergi, las cuales se encuentran distribuidas clinal y parapátricamente en dicho territorio. A continuación se enumeran algunas de las evidencias experiemtnales y características observadas en dichos organismos, las cules sugieren que estas cuatro especies "hermanas" ("sibling") parecen encontrarse en estadíos finales de especiación.
