The Anti-Sociality of Capitalism:
Some preliminary thoughts

This article is a translation of Samo Tomšič's essay, "The Antisociality of Capitalism". Tomšič examines how capitalism, through its structure and mechanisms, reinforces antisocial tendencies and engenders hostility within social relations. Drawing on the critical frameworks of Karl Marx and Sigmund Freud, the author analyzes how the capitalist system prioritizes accumulation and economic growth over social well-being, eroding community bonds and fostering an environment of competition and resentment. In this view, capital is not only an economic agent but a "drive" directed toward self-valorization, detached from any constructive social function.
