Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Verify that the article and files sent to PEAS comply with the parameters indicated in the editorial policy; emphasize this revision in the requirements indicated in the instructions for authors. 

     

  • Verify that you have properly realized professional translations of the tittle adequately, summary, and key words in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. The absence of these elements or their low quality implies that the manuscript will not initiate the editorial process. 
  • Verify that the body of the text or footnotes does not contain information or identification referencing the author(s) and the work funding institution 
  • Completely fill out the file "intellectual rights and author(s) credits." Donwload Here
  • In the submission process on the OJS platform that manages the editorial process of PEAS, indicate the thematic section in which you aspire your manuscript to be revised. 

  • Verify the record in the methodological section of artificial intelligence (AI) tools (if used): name, version, date of use, prompts drafted, and specific purpose of use (what the AI and prompt were used for in this document).

Article preparation and submission:

  • All submissions are processed on the journal website (http://www.udea.edu.co/educacionfisicaydeporte) that works with the Open Journal System (OJS) platform. Works sent by other means will not be considered.

  • Papers will be accepted in the following languages: Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

  • The article must be presented in a digital file elaborated in word processor with the RTF or DOC format.

  • The extension of each article must not exceed 20 pages.

  • The page configuration should be on letter size with margins of 2.5 cm on each side, the font is Arial 12 points, the spacing among lines must have be simple.

  • Avoid the excessive use of footnotes page.

  • In case of presenting charts and figures in the article, these must be numbered and titled below each one, preferably must be elaborated in the same word processor, if added as images, they must meet the following technical requirements.

  • The images (photographs or graphics produced in digitals formats as JPGE, PNG, GIF, TIFF among others) that will eventually be included must be inserted into the RTF/DOC file, and also be attached in JPGE o TIFF format with a resolution not less than 300 dpi. Equally they must be numbered and titled.

  • The rules for submitting text references inside the manuscript and the end thereof must be in the A.P.A style format ® (http://www.apastyle.org) in its later version (7.0 edition) the mandatory citation format is summarized below:
- For references inside the text the cited passage will be enclosed between quotes, if the passage has more than 40 words, it must be in a block down one line regular writing indented to allow differentiation without quotation marks. At the end of the citation is included in brackets the last name of author, year and (s) page (s), for example: (Pérez, 2012, p.133).

- Each reference quoted in the text will appear in the final references list. 

- The reference list will appear at the end of the article under the heading references, and only quote the sources of the texts that were used in the article elaboration. This list will be organized alphabetically and numbered. The style to be used in case of reference books: The author’s first last name followed by the initial of the name. In brackets is the publication year. Next, in italic will be the work tittle. City of publication, country: the publisher. For example:

Pérez D., L. (2014). Study of performance levels of elite athletes in Colombia. Medellin, Colombia: Edukart

In case of referencing a journal article, the author’s first last name and the initial of the author’s second last name (if applicable). And name initial. In brackets, the publication name. Then, the article tittle in italics the journal name, the volume, and in brackets the number, then the pages. In case of referencing a digital journal will follow the consultation date day and month, URL query. See the following example:

The first page should contain:

  • Tittle: must be short and clear (15 words maximum), aligned in the center and in bold type, it must be in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

  • Summary: will be only a structured paragraph with 150 words maximum that synthesizes the addressed problem, objective, methods, findings, and conclusions. Do not quote references and avoid abbreviations in the summary. It must be presented in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.

  • Key words: will be three words minimum and six words maximum which must be presented in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. Must not repeat the title and should be based on descriptors and qualifiers of health sciences of the Virtual Health Library (BIREME-PAHO-WHO) that can be consulted at the following address: https://decs.bvsalud.org/en/

  • Translations (tittle, summary and key words) must be professionals and will not be accepted elaborations of automatic translation systems or software (for example google translate, bing translate, Babylon, etc)

  • Article sent to PEAS must not contain the names, professional and employment data of the author(s) and the funding institution (this information will go in other file that must be supplied later) or in the first page, or in any other part of the manuscript, such as footnotes or similar. This is fundamental to ensure that the editorial policy process anonymous evaluation (peer double blind review) requirement. 

 

Suggestions for the research and innovation article text

    • Introductory paragraph: presents the problem, objectives, background, and references that give base and contextualize the study. It must be organized by first order subtitles, in italics (do not use bold), should require second order subtitles, they will be in italics (no use bold) and with an increased spaced.

    • Methodology: presents the paradigm, the focus or study type developed, method, techniques, instruments applied analysis procedures, and information processing (analysis models, tools, and software supports or research tools); in addition, indicates the data universe and the sample used and analyzed. Ethical considerations applied to the study should be explained.

    • Results: present the study findings, analysis, and progresses developed in the article; in case of dividing the paragraph in subtitles, it is necessary to preserve the subtitles logic previously described.

    • Conclusions and discussion: present the results interpretation in contrast to specialized literature data.

    • References: should be numbered, alphabetically organized, and rigorously fixed to the A.P.A 7.0 parameters previously described.

Sports, performance and competition

These involve subjects that proceed from a wide range of disciplines, science or knowledge. Examples could be medicine, scientific studies of clinical therapeutic type, dietary techniques (nutrition, exercise, and hydration), pharmacological knowledge, legal dispositions, and philosophical and psychological doctrines; focusing on interests in sports performance, competition, and high achievements.

Sport management and administration

With regard to the management, administration and  of organizations in the physical education, sports, recreation, and related field; it intends to make a contribution to disseminate the knowledge about the Administration, Management and Management of Organizations in the physical education, sports, recreation, and related field; in order to understand, analyze, and review several forms and methodologies from a holistic and integrative perspective. In this sense, is recognized the complementarity of approaches and paradigms acknowledging works with academic and methodological rigor in thematics such as sports legislation, sports organization, marketing, talent management, knowledge management, organizational structures, management in the school setting, and other possible themes related to the management of organizations in the area. 

Physical Education

The interest of this editorial section is the publication of works on physical education in an educative, curricular, and didactic perspective.

Physical activity and health

The journal counts with a section devoted to health promotion, disease prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. 

Play activities and Leisure

Open space for academic works, and research about interests for fun, recreation, and use of leisure time from different perspectives.

Thesis and books reviews

This section have reviews of recently published books and thesis of PhD

Letters to editor

Space for letters sent by readers, authors, referees and editors.  For discuss related topics about the quality in the editorial selection of our journal, the problems and errors or make general notes about the journal.
