Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the community sports management strategies used by the sports leaders in Barrio Popular 1 to promote community building capacity. To do this, a qualitative design with an explanatory multiple case study approach was used, including five sports leaders who developed sports programs between 2015 and 2022 as well as the participants of those programs. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and focus groups, with anonymity ensured through coding. The results show that sport strategies focus on creating opportunities to avoid the repetition of conflict situations and territorial divisions. The conclusions highlight that sports management strategies used by sports leaders include neighborhood tournaments, collaboration with community organizations, and the involvement of volunteers in training and competition programs.
