Génesis textual de El cine era mejor que la vida de Juan Diego Mejía

Resumen: En este artículo, el autor analiza algunos aspectos de la génesis textual de la novela El cine era mejor que la vida (2000) del escritor colombiano Juan Diego Mejía. El punto de partida es la intertextualidad existente con varias obras del mismo escritor. La novela tiene como eje la figura del padre, contemplada por un narrador adulto que escenifica la posición y mirada de un niño. El narrador-niño y el personaje Mejía inician la historia con la ida al cine, una especie de pacto estético que los une. El cine, según Orozco, se constituye en una representación de los sueños y además encarna la unión con la irreconciliable realidad. En el artículo se demuestra la génesis textual a partir de la intertextualidad establecida con varios cuentos del mismo escritor, partiendo de la figura del padre en dos de ellos: en uno, “Un capitán para otro barco” (1986), existe sin nombre, y en otro, “Jinetes en cumpleaños” (1986), tiene una personalidad concreta y se le presenta como Esteban Aguilera. Adicionalmente, Orozco presenta otras variantes de la génesis a través de temas recurrentes del novelista.

Abstract: In this article the author analyses some aspects of the genesis of the text of the novel El cine era mejor que la vida (2000) of the Colombian writer Juan Diego Mejía. He parts from the intertextuality of some writings of the author. The novel takes the father as an axis, seen by an adult narrator who represents the position and the point of view of a child. The child-narrator and Mejía begin the story with a coming to the movies, a kind of aesthetic treaty that joins them. According to Orozco, movies are representations of the dreams moreover; it incarnates the union of the irreconcilable reality. In this article it is showed the genesis of the text after the intertextuality established with various stories of the same writer. Taking the figure of the father in two of them: in the first “Un capitán para otro barco” (1986) he exists but is not named, and, in the other, “Jinetes en cumpleaños” (1986) he has a concrete personality and is presented as Esteban Aguilera. Additionally, Orozco presents other variations of the genesis through recurrent topics in the works of the novelist.
