On Culture. Biological Root and Encounter with the Otherness

The paper reviews and revises the attempts to explain the phenomenon of culture from the point of view of Evolutionism. The attempts, following the twentieth century Evolutionism and used by the positivistic side of Cultural Anthropology, face tough questions: the existence of alterity and at the same time the necessity of explaining the singularity of human experience. Singularity and alterity are the limits to the Modern project of generating objective Sciences of Man. Thus, it is crucial to think them over, as obstacles to increase our knowledge and deep difficulties in the project of Sciences of Culture.
