The dialectic of theory and praxis in Adorno

According to Adorno, theory's lack of subordination to immediate practical exigencies reflects and reproduces an injustice, namely that associated with the division between mental and manual labor. Nonetheless, theory is in his view a source of autonomy in the face of the increasingly acute domination of nature anti administrative control of life under advanced industrial capitalism. Adorno's dialectical writing is geared toward the avoidance of classifying uses of language. In other words, such writing aims toward dismantling the doctrine of the primacy of universal, Adorno opts for a form of discourse that coheres with his critique of reification
