Abstract

According to Adorno, theory's lack of subordination to immediate practical exigencies reflects and reproduces an injustice, namely that associated with the division between mental and manual labor. Nonetheless, theory is in his view a source of autonomy in the face of the increasingly acute domination of nature anti administrative control of life under advanced industrial capitalism.
