Aims and Scope

Estudios Políticos is a four‑monthly publication of the Instituto de Estudios Políticos (IEP) of Universidad de Antioquia. Peer Review Process

The Journal will notify authors of the receipt of articles and their acceptance for publication; however, in no case will the originals be returned. Each article will undergo a process of style and basic criteria review by the editorial team, as well as verification of originality through the anti‑plagiarism software CrossCheck. Subsequently, it will be submitted to double‑blind peer review by national and international academic peers using the Open Journal System platform.

Academic peers are selected and contacted directly by the Editorial Committee based on their academic level (master's degree, doctorate), publications in the last three years, specialty in the subject, among other criteria. Once the arbitration request is accepted, peer reviewers are expected to provide their feedback within 30 days (see Evaluation Format). Each article is reviewed by a minimum of two referees. In the event of conflicting opinions, a third arbitrator will be involved to resolve the conflict.

For the Journal, the involvement of peer reviewers is seen as a means of exchange and collaboration aimed at strengthening the academic community. Therefore, no fees are paid to the reviewers. However, their work is recognized with credits and a certificate of participation as referees, which they can present to their respective institutions.

Based on the input from the academic peers, the Editorial Committee of the Journal makes the final decision on the publication or rejection of the articles and conveys the referees' observations to the authors. In the case of acceptance, the authors are required to submit the revised article within a maximum period of two weeks. The authors should also report any changes made in the final version, which will be checked by the Editorial Committee for appropriate implementation. The Committee reserves the right to suggest formal modifications in line with the Journal's style and editorial policy. During the style modification stage, no alterations to the content of the text are allowed.
