El artículo describe los tres grandes proyectos de la izquierda que han tenido una elemental preocupación acerca de que sociedad se buscaba y, también, acerca de cómo llega a ella: el socialismo científico, el socialismo real y la social democracia. También expone las generalidades de esos fracasos, enseñanzas que, a su vez, son requisitos que habrá de satisfacer el proyecto igualitario.
