SITUACION DE ALGUNAS ENFERMEDADES TRANSMISIBLES SUSCEPTIBLES DE PREVENIRSE EN LA POBLACION INFANTIL
Abstract
The following analysis and comments are intended to provide an overview of the epidemiological situation of some preventable communicable diseases among the country's children.
Since this is an epidemiological approach, some basic points should be defined in order to delimit the scope and limitations of the epidemiological interpretation of these pathological phenomena.
1.1. First of all, it is worth remembering that epidemiology studies the phenomenon of disease from the point of view of large sets of cases and their mutual interrelationships. In other words, the fundamental problem faced by the epidemiological approach is that of the frequency of cases of disease or death and their measurement or quantification. This is done with the help of descriptive statistical procedures.
On the other hand, epidemiology studies the distribution of disease in human populations, i.e. how cases of disease are related to each other according to the three variables of PERSON, TIME AND PLACE'.
