Abstract
I would not like, on this occasion, to refer to the important contributions in the theoretical field, the precision of certain postulates and even the generation of new categories of analysis to investigate workers' health, made by C. Laurell in his paper. Laurell in his paper.
I would rather like to situate my comments in the methodological-technical field. Indeed, this was the area in which social medicine had and still has its main gaps and leaps. Either because the sources of aggregate information (macro-social biostatistics) do not have a classifying criterion according to the theoretical postulates (in few Latin American countries is it possible to find information on mortality from different causes classified according to occupation or trade), or because of the difficulty of accessing sources of information that give a global account of the causes of death, or because of the difficulty of accessing sources of information that give a global account of the causes of death, or because of the difficulty of accessing sources of information that give a global account of the causes of death.
