CONTENIDO IDEOLOGICO DE LA PROPAGANDA DE LA INDUSTRIA FARMACEUTICA. UN ANALISIS SOCIOLOGICO.
Abstract
Medicines have always been potentially toxic, but their undesirable effects have increased with the spread of their use, since, as we already know, together with their useful and positive effects, they are associated with side effects, some of which are only known after many years of use. While it is true that, with the development of chemistry, effective drugs have been put at the service of mankind, which have allowed the cure of diseases that were previously fatal, and have allowed the increase in life expectancy, their excessive use, not always rational and necessary, have made them dangerous weapons, which must be subject to control by the State. The industry in charge of the production, marketing and promotion of drugs is the Pharmaceutical Industry.
In a recent study by Yolanda Machado on Pharmacological Technology and Medicine, she says the following about the Pharmaceutical Industry: “...the pharmaceutical industry in a capitalist society, being a sector incorporated into the productive structures, is subject as such to the same laws as the pharmaceutical industry.
