LA EPIDEMIOLOGIA DE LAS INFECCIONES INTRAHOSPITALARIAS Y SU RELACION CON LA ADMINISTRACION DEL HOSPITAL UNIVERSITARIO SAN VICENTE DE PAUL MEDELLIN COLOMBIA
Abstract
It is believed that in-hospital infection (11) is one of the most frequent iatrogenic diseases in Colombian hospitals, which generally lack adequate resources for care, a reality not always independent of the high level of training of university hospital personnel, since human resources alone are not enough to provide medical care.
Hospital-acquired infections are a good indicator of the quality of patient care. An institution, which has enough trained personnel that complies with asepsis standards, which has the necessary equipment, will necessarily have a good quality of care and therefore will not be the average length of stay prolonged by infections II, nor increased mortality due to this cause.
cause.
The issue is even more important if it is taken into account that a percentage of the morbidity in Colombian hospitals is due to infectious diseases, which necessarily leads to the fact that a large number of germs are concentrated in these institutions.
