ENCUESTA DE MORBILIDAD REALIZADA ENTRE LA COMUNIDAD INDIGENA CUNA DE CAIMAN NUEVO TURBO, ANTIOQUIA - JULIO 1975
Abstract
The results of a morbidity survey conducted in an indigenous community (Cunas), located in the north of the Department of Antioquia, are presented. A total of 304 individuals (910/0 of the total) were examined in order to detect the most important demographic aspects and the most prevalent diseases among them.
The results show that this is an eminently young community, in which 91.00% are under 44 years of age, with a slight predominance of the female sex (51.320/0) and a great deficiency in height but with an excess of weight for this height, that is, nutritional dwarfism with a tendency to obesity.
There were major failures in environmental sanitation due to the lack of systems for excreta disposal, water conduction and treatment, which causes permanent reinfections of intestinal parasitism and digestive diseases of water origin.
