La hepatitis B es un problema endémico de salud pública en muchos países alrededor del mundo. Se estima que 350 millones de personas son portadoras del virus de hepatitis B (VHB). Una vacuna altamente efectiva ha estado disponible desde principios de los años ochenta y muchos países la están utilizando para controlar la infección. Sin embargo, todavía hay muchas áreas donde la vacuna no está en uso.
