The results of the water quality analysis of the stabilization lagoons used for wastewater treatment in the municipality of La Ceja, Antioquia are presented. The water quality data were collected in two nictemerales field samplings (of 24 h) and two general field samplings made during 2002-2003. Physical, chemical and biological variables were evaluated in longitudinal and vertical dimensions of each lagoon. Among the physical and chemical variables, the water temperature with significant day-night changes and the hydraulic detention time showed important variations. The later, in the facultative lagoon, was the limitant factor of algal growth.
