ABSTRACT
At the present, the hegemonic discources about nation and nationality have been replaced by a plural conception determined in the opening of spaces for the racial, cultural and socioeconomic diversity, inherent to countries in which capitalism has been unequally interrupted. Taking that into account, this article aims, regarding the concept of History of Literature, to state the notion of tradition as central idea in which it is possible to recognize the existence of several manifestations of the word worked as an excluding category in the structure of the literary canon.
