Abstract

This article focuses on the description that the English philosopher Thomas Hobbes makes about the man. He applied the theory of movement and the role of straigth reason to human passions, and from there, affirmed the need to establish a prevailing power capable of suppressing the permanent, violent and intense passions of the man, through the law and punishment, in order to preserve and protect human life.
