Abstract

La más reciente contribución de Bell Hooks a la educación y a la pedagogía, Comunidad de Aprendizaje, ofrece un conjunto de ensayos dirigidos a explicar cómo lograr una pedagogía que cree una comunidad genuina de personas que se sientan libres y con optimismo para la construcción de futuro. Ella insiste en que tal comunidad debe estar centrada en una pedagogía orientada hacia el antirracismo y el pensamiento crítico, que afirma que el mundo puede cambiar hacia lo mejor, como de hecho ha ocurrido en el pasado. Leer Comunidad de Aprendizaje es un ejercicio intelectual que puede conducir a una benéfica autocrítica tanto como a cambios para corregir situaciones pedagógicas. Si bien algunos de los capítulos parecen artículos de revistas que distraen un poco del panorama general, otros deben ser digeridos y asimilados por los maestros y por los maestros de los maestros y por todos aquellos que buscan la justicia social desde cualquier campo.
