El texto de Cuban, titulado ¿Por qué
es tan difícil lograr escuelas buenas?,
es una colección de sus conferencias
presentadas para la serie “Julius y Rosa Sachs”
durante 2001 y 2002. El texto de Cuban está
fundado en la paradoja de la visión profesoral
como parte del problema y la solución en
términos de creación de escuelas “buenas”. Los
documentos de Cuban presentan la tensión entre
dos visiones prevalentes de las escuelas:
aunque ellas son comúnmente vistas como
responsables de los males sociales de Estados
Unidos, las escuelas también sirven como
promotoras del progreso individual dirigido al
éxito social y económico.
