No faltará crítico ácido que afirme que el resultado simple de una investigación de 22 encuestas locales se adornó de un marco teórico defensor de la tradición y la historia de la universidad, con reflexiones incompletas, históricas y económicas intrascendentes, para calificar la obra de Andrés Botero Bernal. Esa sería una visión pesimista sobre sus alcances y desconocedora, sin mucho argumento sólido, de la importancia de un serio trabajo de universitología y autonomía universitaria.
