El nuevo contrato entre ciencia y sociedad

Abstract

Lo que voy a presentar es lo que se ha llamado el nuevo contrato entre la
ciencia y la sociedad. La UNESCO propuso en 1999 que intentáramos crear una
nueva relación o una negociación de relaciones entre la ciencia y la sociedad. Pero el origen del nuevo contrato es muy anterior; había muchas quejas sobre los efectos de la ciencia, en algunos casos, y se sentía que la ciencia no responde algunas preguntas; no sabemos si la tecnología está enfocada a crear necesidades nuevas al hombre, o a resolverlas; no contamos con una ciencia que responda por las consecuencias de algunos de sus inventos, los ejemplos son muchos, y al mismo tiempo tenemos necesidades enormes de respuestas científicas, y tecnológicas. Se planteó, entonces, que tiene que darse una relación diferente entre ciencia y sociedad. Ese tema es complejo y profundo, yo trataré de presentarlo en una forma esquemática la cual, como todos los esquemas, resultará insuficiente y reductora, pero puede ayudar a ver las diferencias.
