Identification and management of the research. Development of an institutional experience. Case University Católica Andrés Bello

Abstract

This article shows the process of identification and research administration at a higher education institution such as Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB), Caracas, Venezuela. This type of design shows the characteristics of the university, its departmental structure for research, the expertise of its researchers, and the types of research products, in order to develop a structure for research lines that is easy to understand and inclusive, thus promoting a research culture that increases the visibility of processes and the solution to research problems, while at the same time integrating group and interdepartmental experiences. This organizational effort should facilitate the necessary changes when the narrative of research lines information management is displaced by a narrative of fields of knowledge and research management, leading to the incorporation of a greater number of academic and non-academic actors in the investigative processes and thus enriching research subjects. The methodology includes analysis within a contemporary evolutionary design and information gathering through a questionnaire that was distributed among 76 UCAB researchers for five years. Finally, this process seeks to contribute to the education of students and teachers by making them co-participants in investigative activities.
