Autores de prestigio en los estudios de cultura como Tzvetan Todorov defienden la necesidad de un canon desde el cual la identidad individual puede enraizarse en una determinada colectividad. Sin poner en discusión la validez de tal aserto, hay que agregar que la mayoría de las veces el canon impone una identidad de élite, la misma que resulta ajena a las identidades reales de los individuos del común y, todavía peor, a las de las regiones o localidades periféricas a las que pertenecen muchos de esos individuos. Ahora bien, conviene enfatizar que la identidad de élite se origina en los centros rectores de pensamiento (una metrópoli, una capital, una ciudad, un centro académico, una capilla religiosa o cultural, los medios de comunicación, etc.) y su acción es hegemónica, con lo cual la mano negra de la exclusión se atraviesa en el imaginario de la gente del común dictándole valores y representaciones del mundo que naturalizan la dominación y la negación de formas y hábitos de vida diferenciadores y plurales.

Therefore, this requirement must be met by the authors upon receipt of the manuscript.
