Colombian writer Luis Fayad through his literature has always been linked to urban themes, specifically to the case of Bogotá as the future Colombian megalopolis. Many of his stories and novels revolve around the social fabric of a widely fragmented and complex Colombian capital. The author has been able to explore and dissect the interstices that delimit the different layers of the local society. In this study, I analyze three short stories in which the author through his fiction portrays and invites the reader to reflect on urban marginality. The protagonists of these works are minors who idly roam and live on the streets participating in unlawful behavior. These texts, despite their fictional features, document the marginal reality that occurred in Bogotá over the sixties and seventies. These narratives beyond their aesthetic merits, help perpetuate the memory of the city. Fayad’s stories indirectly reveal a failed social project, a wasted childhood and youth, and a broken plan of modernization.
