Salud mental: una mirada desde la salud pública

Desde la mirada de la salud pública, la salud mental es un constructo altamente complejo en su concepción y en su aplicación; sin embargo, si se mira por fuera de esta lupa, son muchas las aristas que podrían quedar pendientes, de tal manera que se correría el riesgo de considerarla de una manera, que aunque valiosa, podría llegar a ser simplista. La salud pública obedece a diversos órdenes que le aportan complejidad –aunque a la vez claridad– al concepto de la salud mental. Como se dijo en una Editorial previa de esta Revista [1], la salud pública obedece a los órdenes epistemológico, teórico y político, cuyos análisis permiten identificar la orientación en su quehacer académico, político o técnico, en este caso, de la salud mental.
