Abstract

The Social Security Institute assumed the risk of occupational accidents and occupational diseases in Antioquia as of July 1, 1965, thus complying with Decree No. 3170 of December 21, 1964.
Work accidents of different severity occur daily in the working population affiliated to the ISS, some of which end in the death of the worker.
The purpose of this research is to quantify the real magnitude of the problem of fatal work accidents and to analyze the greatest possible number of variables consigned in the existing records, with the purpose of adopting, by the responsible parties, preventive measures to reduce this type of accidents among workers.
