Abstract
In addressing this issue of Occupational Health, it is necessary to look at the economically active population of our countries, with their dependent capitalist economy, and check their living and health conditions.
The international bureaucratic institutions responsible for the above mentioned aspects have been advising and guiding our governments and official institutions for more than 50 years: Occupational Health institutes have been created, appointed Safety chiefs in large companies, paid permanent consultancies; manufactured and imported personal protection elements, left daily hundreds of recommendations to companies on Hygiene, Industrial Safety and Occupational Medicine, offered courses to professionals and technicians, papered workplaces with posters indicating that safety and accident rates depend on the “good will” of workers; agreements and recommendations have been proposed to our legislative powers which are generally approved years later, when it best suits their class interests.
In spite of “so many efforts” we continue to be eyewitnesses of the peaceful massacre of our working population derived from the form of insertion in the production process and embodied in the accelerated wear and tear of the labor force (with specific ways of falling ill and dying) and in the subhuman conditions of “survival” of the working population.
