LA PRESCRIPCÓN DE MEDICAMENTOS (1)
Abstract
A first element to be defined in the analysis of contemporary medical prescription is the stage on which it takes place sociology has often taken the model of theatrical action to explain social events. This led to defining actors, studying their roles and placing them on a stage; this choice was not fortuitous and often responded to a need to hide the real determinants of social action.
In our case, we could limit ourselves to studying prescriptive behavior within the scenario of a doctor's office and see the performance of doctor-patient actors as a relationship based on a clearly established ethical agreement. However, we will try to approach the problem of medical prescription by establishing from the outset the conditions of the current scenario.
From 1870 onwards, in Europe, the effects of a second industrial revolution began to be felt. To the growing use of new forms of energy - oil, electricity - is added the development of great inventions: telephone, synthetic dyes, internal combustion engines, etc. But above these facts a peculiar situation is observed: the link between scientific knowledge and material production. For the first time there is such a close relationship between scientific work and factory production that it will have a decisive impact on what is today the pharmaceutical industry.
