LA SEGURIDAD SOCIAL
Abstract
The conflicts that have been taking place in the country since last year in the field of the so-called “Social Security”, fully justify that we stop now to express as an editorial some ideas on such an important subject. It is really striking how the center of the problem has been constituted by the labor impasse and only marginally alludes to the aspects related to the attention received by the Colombian population.
It is stated, here and there, that the Colombian Institute of Social Security needs an overhaul to put an end to the bureaucracy, to its inadequate financing, to the abuses that take place there and, finally, to a long list of issues that stand out as urgent to be solved. However, few voices have been heard clamoring for a true global review of the country's Health System, clamoring for an examination of the validity of the social security system. It would seem that the subject is taboo today or that global conceptions are not applicable or that such reviews have already been carried out for all of history...
