Abstract

To discuss the political problems of health, even superficially, would be an extensive task that goes beyond the scope of this article. However, it seems possible to analyze some problems of a general nature that are the basis of many other problems of a particular nature. Therefore, our discussion will be limited to this level.

In common parlance, what is adjectivized as political has a meaning more rooted in the cultural notion of what politics is than in the academic concept of politics. In our culture, the idea of politics and the political has been vaguely restricted to electoral processes, to the activities of political parties, to certain governmental activities and also to certain types of activities that have been pejoratively designated as "politicking", which, by extension, have been assimilated to politics and the political.
