LA LUCHA DE LOS TRABAJADORES POR LA SALUD (Algunas reflexiones sobre su significado en el contexto de la lucha social)
Abstract
The handling of the subject offers several difficulties derived, firstly, from the multiplicity of scenarios in which the productive processes are developed and with them the working conditions, risks and damages to the health of the workers and, secondly, from the heterogeneity of the responses to these facts formulated by the company, the State and the workers themselves, according to their particular interests.
For the purposes of the following presentation, referring mainly to Latin America at the present time, we must point out that we start from the assumption that the struggle for occupational health includes concern for the overall health situation of the population. Both facts, apart from representing a medical-health problem, constitute an economic and political problem, particularly in the present situation of crisis affecting the world capitalist economy as a whole.
