Abstract

The study of the malarial problem has taken the primary epidemiological factors (PEFs), namely: Parasite, Vector and Host.
However, an orderly knowledge of the resources applicable to the fight against malaria is obtained from Russell's epidemiological formula, which presents the sequence of transmission with the addition of secondary epidemiological factors (SEFs).
In fact, the isolated consideration of the PEFs does not allow the epidemiologist to have an exact notion of the composition of the problem, which is a function of the support they receive from the SSFs; it is therefore the integral analysis of the malarial phenomenon that makes it possible to measure its complexity and magnitude and consequently find appropriate solutions for each situation.
Important variables in the chain of transmission are the bionomics of the vector and the population, the characteristics of the environment, the species and strain of parasites, the treatment of the sick and the endemic, and the immunity of the population.
