Abstract

In order to improve medical care of patients with sleep disorders this review presents modern conceptions about It and briefly describes Its most frequent disorders, namely: excessive daytime somnolence, insomnia, parasomnias and disorders of sleep-wake pattern; emphasis Is made on the need to thoroughly work-up patients suffering from these disorders and to avoid unjustified hypnotic medication in cases of insomnia.
