Abstract

The results of evaluating the cardiovascular system during rest are very different from those obtained during dynamic or static exercise; they also differ between trained and sedentary persons. Previous knowledge of the physiological responses of the cardiovascular system allows a more scientific interpretation of the results of exercise and provides a more solid base for adequately prescribing a training program In order to obtain more benefits from physical activity and to avoid complications. The main concepts on cardiovascular physiology during exercise and clinical and paraclinical changes that may appear in trained persons are presented to illustrate general practitioners In the field of sports medicine.
