Introduction: XVII Colombian Congress and XI International Congress of Human Genetics

Abstract

This special supplement of IATREIA contains the abstracts of the works presented at the XVII Colombian Congress and XI International Congress of Human Genetics, held in Medellin from June 14 to 16, 2023, under the theme "Advances in genetics and its applications in the era of Omics."

During the event, symposia were conducted in the areas of Omics Sciences, Population Genetics, Epigenetics, Molecular Genetics, Human Identification (Forensic), Animal Genetics and Chimerism, Cancer and Biomarkers, Cytogenomics, Genetics, Rare Diseases, Precision Medicine, Pharmacogenetics, Innovation in Genetics, and Gene Therapy. Additionally, this supplement of the IATREIA Medical Journal from the University of Antioquia with ISSN 0121-0793 / ISSN-e 2011-7965, Volume 36, Supplement 2, 2023, is provided to the scientific community, highlighting the advancements in the field of Human Genetics both worldwide and in Colombia. It features significant contributions from 13 international and 6 national speakers to advance this field in our country, benefiting the new generations of students and professionals in medicine, biology, and related sciences. In conclusion, this congress was attended by over 600 professionals, with 250 oral and poster presentations and support from 25 sponsors.
