Abstract

Introduction: llness and death are prominently featured in numerous literary works, becoming a rich source of inspiration that helps healthcare teams understand these complex phenomena through novel and creative perspectives that transcend the disease-centric view of the illness process.

Objective: To identify the aesthetic forms in medical practice that emerge from the analysis of the literary work "That Which Has No Name" ("Lo que no tiene nombre").

Methods: A qualitative study with a hermeneutic approach was conducted.

Results: Two main categories emerged from the analysis: the narrativity of fear and the medical act as a work of art.

Conclusions: The medical act is enhanced through the encounter with patients who can narrate and confront their fears. In this process, the healthcare team becomes more humanized as they transition from bureaucratic ethics to an ethics of care. Through this transformation, the healthcare team-patient-family dynamic acquires new and aesthetic forms.
