Reflective functioning or mentalization is a key factor in mental disorders. The aim of this study was to analyse the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Reflective Functioning Questionnaire. An incidental non-probabilistic sample of 289 participants was used from the department of Córdoba, Colombia: 88 men (30.4%) and 201 women (69.6%), of whom 232 are nonclinical (80.3%) and 57 are in clinical state (19.7%). The results confirm the structure of the RFQ composed by two subscales that asses certainty and uncertainty of mental states, indicating construct validity. Likewise, the RFQ scale shows high reliability and appropriate internal consistency between items and concordance in the factorial structure with the original version. Differences were observed in opacity for clinical and non-clinical participants where the clinical participants showed hypomentalization.
