Repensando la educación

El modelo educacional occidental necesita ser reformado seriamente si vamos a educar a los ciudadanos futuros acerca de las nuevas amenazas y oportunidades que posee el mundo de hoy.
La generación que se está educando actualmente tendrá que hacer muchas cosas vitales que nosotros, la generación presente, no hemos querido hacer: prevenir un cambio climático; proteger la diversidad biológica; revertir la destrucción de los bosques; estabilizar la población mundial; reducir los niveles de consumo. Ellos deben reconstruir la economía para detener el poder de las corporaciones gigantes y las instituciones globales no-elegidas. Y ellos deben hacer todo esto mientras atienden desigualdades sociales y raciales que están empeorando cada vez más. Ninguna otra generación ha encarado jamás una agenda tan espantosa.
