Quechua community in Medellín: language, identity and culture

This article reflects on the interest of conducting research in the field of linguistic anthropology, as well as recognizing and appreciating language as an intangible cultural heritage. This research was carried out with the Quechua Indigenous group in the city of Medellin. It discusses the relationship between anthropology and linguistics and develops a general overview of the cultural norms of the Quechua people in this city. Last, the article focuses on the sociolinguistic aspect of this community, which has great needs in terms of coherent public policies regarding education and mother language teaching.
