This article examines the trend according to which, in Colombia, cultural policies have been progressively assuming the logic and rhetoric of some economic policies, in particular those related with the so called cultural entrepreneurship, tourism and the role of private corporations as financial supporters of the cultural sector. This trend sets an ideal stage for the study of different goals behind the commercial strategies that give sustainability to many cultural practices. In order to illustrate this thesis, I will discuss two cases: the crafts market and cultural immaterial heritage declarations.
