Como profundo conocedor de la Botánica Amazónica, el autor dedica a este ensayo a rescatar el valor cultural de una serie de plantas utilizadas por los grupos indígenas del noroeste amazónico. Clasifica en tres grupos las especies analizadas: venenosas, alucinógenas y medicinales.
