Materials from the memory of Kichwa-Caranqui women for the custody of the territory

This article will analyze the role of Kichwa-Caranqui women in the community of Cashaloma in the custody of memory and in the (re)creation of the political history of the community, the locality, and the revision of one of the most important public policies in Latin America: the Agrarian Reform. The text contains the self-reflection on the process undertaken with the community of Cashaloma, from research, the creation of “memory materials” and the artistic-political re-creation of the history of the community. From a historical and anthropological perspective, through the lens of structural heterogeneity and feminist history, and the use of ethnography as the methodology, the voices of Kichwa-Caranqui women have been situated at the center, to identify: what “hidden stories” are shown in the female narrative spaces? What differences arise between female and male voices when relating the story? What is the relationship between the narration of history and the configuration of political subjects? And finally, the text dialogues with the question: can the (re)creation of memory be analyzed as a political tool?
