This work analyses the role of social memory as cultural dimension in the ethnic frame
of the Capeverdean community in Argentina. In other words, this work proposes an anthropological study of the processes of past meaning when acting as ethnic diacritic in an immigrant community. For that purpose, we will focus on the definition and delimitation of the Capeverdean subject in Argentina and on his interaction with the host society, particularly through the national state, observing the transformations produced in the intergenerational transmission
