Melhoradores cognitivos transcranianos para atletas de alto rendimento: perspectiva da bioética esportiva

Neste artigo é realizada uma avaliação prospectiva do uso de potencializadores cognitivos transcranianos em atletas de alto rendimento, a partir da bioética do esporte. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo de revisão e análise documental. Foi aplicada uma pesquisa sobre sua hipotética promoção como terapia, melhoria cognitiva artificial ou bem-estar. A população pesquisada foi de 171 estudantes, entre 17 e 26 anos, do quinto semestre ou superior de uma universidade colombiana. Entre as conclusões, menciona-se que o crescimento cognitivo apresenta progressos na área médica e a nível desportivo, mas ainda de forma incipiente. Os entrevistados preferiram seu uso terapêutico e, em menor proporção, para melhoria cognitiva ou bem-estar. Conclui-se a necessidade de informar esta comunidade sobre os benefícios e/ou malefícios para alcançar o uso adequado. Os efeitos da sua gestão sem supervisão médica são desconhecidos, mas inferimos que a médio prazo poderão causar dificuldades de saúde pública.
