Street snapshots: space and immigrants in “Una postal movida” by Enrique Ferrer-Corredor

This article examines in the story “Una postal movida” by Enrique FerrerCorredor, the contemporary literary representation of Madrid, Spain, from several moments that take place in a fully recognizable urban context, in which the reader mainly notices: the occupation of public space and the arrival of new citizens. In turn, this story also functions as an allegory that updates various types of socialization within the Spanish capital, by posing the dissimilar confluence of local citizens and immigrants from diverse origins and economic conditions in the same setting. While this article places literature at its core, this approach in fact includes interdisciplinary research (Cultural Studies) that focusses on the transformation of the city itself and the phenomenon of migrations.
