Art religion or art understanding: Hegel's critic of Romanticism

Romanticism made fundamental contributions to the theory of painting on the one hand, it focusedon its visuality as an art of appearance and its idealization, on the other, it coerced it with meaning, putting painting in the service of religion and power it stimulated an enjoyment and criticism, bui it also condemned them favouring a reverential attitude toward art. The Nazarenes painting represents the romantic intention of a new Christian German and patriotic pointing that would reorient the spirit of the time Hegel radically opposed this protect his thesis of the end of an not only has a systematic explanation but also responds to a concrete historical debate. This article approaches Wackenroder August and Friedrich Schlegel and Overbecks positions.
