EVALUACION DE LA TERAPIA CON RESPIRACION ASISTIDA EN PACIENTES PEDIATRICOS HOSPITAL UNIVERSITARIO SAN VICENTE DE PAUL
Medellín-Colombia 1970-1976
Abstract
This is a retrospective descriptive study, carried out at the Hospital Universitario San Vicente de Paúl in the city of Medellín, during the years 1970 to 1976.
All cases hospitalized for tetanus and those with respiratory problems of infectious Poliradiculitis were analyzed.
The main purpose of this study is to describe the epidemiological behavior of pediatric patients requiring respiratory therapy.
The frequency of mortality and complications was quantified according to the following variables: diagnosis, age, sex, nutritional status, severity of the clinical picture.
Mortality was found to be associated with sex, age and clinical picture, and complications with age. In addition, the behavior of the different diagnoses was described according to origin and vaccination history.
