Abstract

This paper presents a case of acute gastric volvulus related to diaphragmatic elevation due to a lung resection performed twenty eight years before, as a consequence of pulmonary tuberculosis. Gastric volvulus is rarely found; the disorder is usually chronic and originales from concurrent diaphragmatic defects or derangements. Pathogenesis and diagnosis of acute gastric volvulus as well as different treatment alternatives are discussed.
